What is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Manual lymphatic drainage massage is a specialized therapeutic technique designed to enhance the flow of lymph—a fluid that plays a critical role in the body’s immune system. This gentle, rhythmic massage technique helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, encouraging the removal of waste products and excess fluids from the tissue.

Utilizing light pressure and specific hand movements, the therapist targets lymph nodes and pathways to promote circulation and improve overall lymphatic function. The treatment is particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from surgery, those with lymphedema, or anyone looking to support their general wellness.

By reducing swelling, alleviating discomfort, and enhancing relaxation, manual lymphatic drainage massage serves as a holistic approach to maintaining bodily health and improving recovery times.

Note: This treatment is not intended for immediate cosmetic changes or weight loss.

The power of focused tissue manipulation has been clinically proven to improve circulation of lymphatic fluid toward the lymph nodes, where it is “drained”. Dandelion Massage Boston has perfected these techniques through rigorous clinical training, continued education, and individual client assessment.

After your cosmetic surgery, it is highly recommended that you receive a series of Lymphatic Drainage Massages to keep the excess swelling from becoming painful. There are many types of lymphatic massages out there, but after surgery, you should stick to the hands-on manual variety.
